If you have not setup your Apple Developer Account, read this article to walk you through the procedure. Afterwards, come back to this article to learn how to create an APNs key.

To create an APNs key: 

  • At the "Key Name" field,  place the description of the key you want to create.
  • Enable the Apple Push Notifications service (APNs) option.
  • Click the "Continue" button.
  • Press "Register".

The next steps differ depending on if you are working through a MacBook or iPad.

If you are working through an iPad:

  • You are given your private key directly. Copy it and go to your Kodika app. 
  • Go to Push Notifications; press "Connect" and click at "Submit your APNs Auth Key".
  • Paste the APNs Auth Key. Press "Download".
  • Save the file to your Files App. Make sure your new key is placed somewhere safe since it cannot be re-downloaded later.
  • Go to your Firebase project, click the "Settings."
  • Click Cloud Messaging. [1.1]
  • Scroll down to "APNs Authentication Key" and press "Upload." [1.2]
  • Choose the file you downloaded. 
  • Find the Key ID and the Team ID and fill the counterpart fields.
  • Press "Upload" [1.3] and you should be good to go!

If you are working through a MacBook: 

  • A .p8 file is downloaded. Make sure to place it somewhere safe since it cannot be retrieved later.
  • Go to your Firebase project, click the "Settings."
  • Click Cloud Messaging. [1.1]
  • Scroll down to "APNs Authentication Key" and press "Upload." [1.2]
  • Choose the file you downloaded.
  • Find the Key ID (visit this article to find out how) and the Team ID (read this article if you don't know where to find it) and fill the counterpart field.
  • Press "Upload" [1.3] and you should be good to go!
